For many people, Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. The streets are illuminated with festive lights, restaurants are beautifully decorated, and there is a sense of warmth and togetherness almost everywhere you go. At the same time, Christmas can also be a period when people reflect on companionship, connection, and the importance of sharing meaningful moments with others.
Because I receive questions every year about my availability during the holidays, I thought it would be nice to write a blog about it.
This year, I am available for bookings on both Christmas Day (December 25th) and Boxing Day (December 26th).
For my international visitors, this is also a perfect opportunity to explain how Christmas is celebrated in the Netherlands. In many countries, Christmas is primarily celebrated on a single day. In the Netherlands, however, we traditionally celebrate two Christmas Days. The first day, December 25th, is often spent with close family such as parents, children, or partners. The second day, December 26th, is commonly reserved for visiting extended family, friends, or simply enjoying a festive day out. Many people use this day to have dinner together, visit a Christmas market, or spend quality time with loved ones.
As a result, Christmas in the Netherlands often feels like a two-day celebration. Daily life slows down considerably, people make time for one another, and there is often more room for relaxation and genuine connection than during a normal working week.
Perhaps that is why I have always found meetings during the Christmas period to be particularly special.
During most of the year, our lives are filled with work, obligations, schedules, and responsibilities. The holidays feel different. People tend to be more present, more relaxed, and more focused on enjoying the moment. There is time for meaningful conversations, long dinners, and simply enjoying each other’s company without constantly watching the clock.
For visitors travelling to Amsterdam, Christmas is also one of the most beautiful times to experience the city. The canals are illuminated, hotels create festive holiday atmospheres, and many restaurants offer special seasonal menus. Whether it is a walk through the city lights, an elegant dinner, or a relaxing evening in a luxury hotel, the holiday season adds something extra to the experience.
For Dutch clients, Christmas can mean something entirely different. Not everyone celebrates the holidays in the same way. Some people no longer have family nearby, some are single, and others simply choose to spend the holidays differently. Many have busy schedules filled with family gatherings and appreciate taking a little time for themselves amidst the celebrations.
Whatever your situation may be, I believe that Christmas is ultimately about connection. Not about obligations, gifts, or perfectly decorated tables, but about sharing time with people who allow you to feel comfortable, appreciated, and completely yourself.
If you are considering making this Christmas a little more special, you are very welcome to submit a booking request through my website. As always, I recommend doing so well in advance, as the holiday season tends to be one of the most popular times of the year.
Whether you are visiting Amsterdam, rediscovering the city, or simply looking for a warm and memorable encounter during the festive season, I would love to help create a beautiful memory together.
With love,
Rosa
