To me, a good restaurant is more than just a place to eat. It is a setting where atmosphere, calm and refinement come together. Whether it is an evening where everything is carefully planned, or a spontaneous meeting with a focus on simplicity, the right location makes all the difference. Amsterdam has much to offer in that respect. Below I share a few of my favourite places, each with its own character and suited to a different kind of moment. All of them are also lovely to visit with a companion.

An evening out is always enjoyable, but some nights carry a little something extra. For me, those are cultural evenings, when companionship blends effortlessly with art, atmosphere and a touch of mystery. A night at the theatre, the opera or a remarkable film only becomes truly special when the experience around it is just as intentional and refined as the performance itself. Because it’s not just about where you go; it’s about how you experience it together.
